Congrats to Randy "The Ram" Faessler and Mike McGuire who were promoted to blue belts over at our East Meadow location on Tues! Mike and Randy have both recently elevated their BJJ game and are an excellent addition to the academy. Keep up the excellent work guys!
A huge congratulations also goes out to Chris Weidman. He was promoted this past Monday to the rank of purple belt by our good friend, Professor John Danaher at the Renzo Gracie Academy in Manhattan. Chris is currently training for the prestigious Abu Dhabi submission wrestling world championships. The tournament is in September and will take place in Barcelona, Spain. We have no doubt that Chris will represent well as he is training extremely hard for this event.

Today in East Meadow, Billy "Billy Bats" Bottone was awarded a much deserved purple belt. Billy has come a long way from when he started. Not only did Billy lose close to 100 pounds training here at Serra BJJ but developed a very dangerous well-rounded Jiu-jitsu game. He's been giving higher belts fits on the mats now for some time and this promotion is well deserved!
On Sunday, August 16th 2009 we will be having our First Annual Team Serra Summer BBQ at Eisenhower Park at 1:00 PM. All team members are welcome as well as family and friends of Team Serra members.
