In various Ultimate Fighter episodes, both Matt Serra and Matt Hughes demonstrated their ultimately very different management styles. Each had different styles and approaches in dealing with and motivating their fighters.
Let us compare management styles of Matt Serra and Matt Hughes as seen in various Ultimate Fighter seasons. And once we are done, we can do a write-up and send it to business schools as a case study in organzational behavior and management.
In the future, I will be re-watching various TUFS seasons.

NATURE V. NURTURE
**In the beginning episode of TUF 2 (Hughes/Franklin) Matt Hughes said that the selection of fighters day will determine the outcome (i.e. Hughes' choice of fighters) because in the short amount of time, he would not be able to drastically make a fighter better. Rich Franklin, on the other hand, expressed school of thought that was more similar to Serra's. Franklin said that if he had a fighter with average ability but with strong heart and desire, that fighter could become very dangerous.
INDOCTRINATION: THE BIG BROTHER?
**In TUF Hughes v. Serra, Hughes, a born-again Christian, had his squad read Bible in the gym. Hughes then quizzed fighters what they thought the passages meant. Hughes then said that so and so character in the Bible was him (Hughes). To TV viewers, this may have made Hughes look like an egomaniac.
Serra saw the Bible reading session, and thought it was odd and funny, and not appropriate to impose religion into training.
