Here are just a few to throw in the mix...

Don't ask an instructor to roll or spar when he is conducting a class.

When an instructor is teaching, leave the "What if" questions after class, not while he is in the middle of showing the technique. It's perceived as challenging the knowledge of the instructor.

This one is for both students and instructors alike. Treat fellow classmates with courtesy and respect, it doesn't matter if you are a white belt or a black belt.

This one is for white belts. Don't teach, you are still learning yourself.

Use common sense. Pulling fingers, slamming , rough housing, and applying techniques that serve no purpose other than to cause pain and injury, are pointless and put someone on the injured list for no reason. You should be able to apply a submission with a reasonable amount of force to avoid injury so that he or she can train again the next day.

If you are a higher ranking student rolling with a new student, show them the ropes, not a beating.

Looking back at when I was new, there are a few of these that I can say I was guilty of. It might be beneficial to beginners if there was a summary of this thread in a quick print-out. Looking back, some of these things seem obvious, but as a beginner, they're not as obvious as they now seem.

Don't ask for any belts or promotions. Bad idea.
